TECHNICAL STORY

Michelle is a storyteller, professional development coach and organiser.

Michelle is the founder of S W A N F E A T H E R - a New York based coaching and consulting practice that is dedicated to serving people and ideas in the arts. She connects people with opportunity, helping her clients work creatively on who they are now, becoming and how they show up in the world.

The company follows on from her 17-years of global professional experience in storytelling, business development consulting, managing artists, producing events and coaching a spectrum of creative leaders and their teams. Her anchor is the business of music. She believes in the power of story, the importance of how we feed the mind and how we care for each other.  

In 2011, Michelle co-founded The Manifesto: a digital platform, print book and event series profiling remarkable music executives and practitioners. Together with Beatrice Hurst (her co-founder) she build a team that published three books, each exploring new stories for the music industry community. Focusing on New York City, Los Angeles and London - each release was paired with a program of gallery shows, banquet dinners, morning breakfast meet ups, podcasts and was the conduit for meaningful dialogue.

Michelle coaches creators and executives within the business of music  - They include people who work at companies including ADA, MAX, Warner Music Group, Republic Records, Universal Music Group, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Spotify, Def Jam Recordings and Capitol Music Group.

In the wider creative economy her coaching, consulting and creative services clients include MAX, Shep Gordon, Coveteur, KCD, WeTransfer, Creative Footprint, The Little Marionette, FENDI, Intern Magazine, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert - The Musical, Tristan Lacour, Nadia Ali PR, Dani Poppitt, The CFDA Awards, The Community Word Project and Harry Winston.

Prior to entering the music business (her first step was in artist management at Michael Chugg Entertainment) Michelle held an advisory role at The Employers Federation in Sydney. She holds a Bachelor of Economics with Honours from Sydney University and studied classical piano at the Australian Institute of Music.

Michelle is Australian and resides in Brooklyn, New York. She co-founded SHUKAT - a mentoring fellowship and community building initiative for music industry executives.
